The clients’ home is a Victorian town house and their kitchen and the family had outgrown the small kitchen which didn’t meet the needs of their busy family life. The focus of the new design was a multi-functional layout that centred around cooking, the children’s homework, relaxing and entertaining, in essence a living space that would become the favoured room for everyone to congregate. An extension created a stunning open-plan layout and the 1909 in-frame cabinetry suits the space perfectly, being simply styled and timeless. The colour palette of partridge grey and charcoal is a classic blend that adds depth to the room, and also teams beautifully with the mix of worktop materials and natural stone flooring. The dresser retains the concept of free-standing furniture and prevents the kitchen from having an overly fitted feel. There’s plenty of personality in the design, from the vivid cerise splashback to the statement pendant lighting over the island.
